Lakshmi Jagmohan

Brought up in Mumbai, with an MBA in Finance, Lakshmi has made Bangalore her home. She had a flair for art and design from a very young age and what started as designing clothes for herself, eventually turned out to become a brand name at many fashion weeks.

Without any formal training, but with strong encouragement and support from her family, she opened her first boutique "Aakrutee's", named after her daughter. She was the only Indian selected to represent the country for “Brother Cup – International Young Fashion Designers’ Contest” held at Beijing, China in April 2000, where she won the prestigious country award.

Within a few years of launching her label, “Lakshmi Jagmohan”, she carved a niche for herself and was part of the designer fraternity, showcasing her creations at India’s most prestigious fashion shows and events. She has received several accolades for shows that she has put up in India and abroad that include the Brother Cup, Bangalore Fashion Week, Chennai International Fashion Week 2010 , among others.

Lakshmi brings the right blend of creative sensitivities to harmonise form and function, drawing inspiration from nature and embellishing her creations with Zardozi embroidery, crystals, semi-precious stones, sequins and Aari work. She incorporates elegant cuts, traditional, contemporary styles that have become the hallmark of her colourful Indian, Western and Indo-western ensembles.
